Abstract
Cardiac arrest occurred in a 23 years old man during halothane anesthesia after injection of 1 ml of 1:1000 epinephrine into the spleen for splenectomy.
When cardiac arrest occurred, immediate measure to resuscitate and diagnose, whether ventricular fibrillation or cardiac standstill, should be taken to save the patient life and to prevent permanent damage to the central nervous system.
In this case after closed cardiac massage and intracardiac injection of epinephrine were unsuccessful the patient was resuscitated by internal cardiac massage through the diaphragm.
The patient recovered completely without any complications and discharged from the hospital 3 weeks later.
